A LIFETIME
Where does a lifetime go?
It sneaks away so silently,
We scarcely know it is going.
It is like a wide river flowing swiftly and silently,
It flows past and we scarcely know it is flowing.
A moment of life:
A flitting shadow
Casting itself on the middle ground of time,
That ghostly compromise of past and future,
Here and gone with only the memory to convince us of its reality.
